The ABS-CBN Ball 2019 brought out the best modern Filipiniana designs, from vintage to pieces inspired by Filipino pop culture. Jane De Leon, the new Darna, opted for the latter as she channeled the heroine in her powder blue dress.
Designer Vania Romoff shared on Instagram that she took inspiration from the heroine’s human form, Narda. “When Jane’s team approached us to create a look for the ball, the design direction for her was to be modest, simple, youthful, and reflective of her Narda persona,” she said. “We envisioned an empire cut ball gown with a modern draped panuelo in powder blue taffeta silk.”
