VSCO girls aren’t just taking over fashion, they’re also changing the beauty landscape.
The trend reportedly started on the photo-editing app VSCO, which is used by many Instagram users to enhance their natural features. Since VSCO makeup was started by mostly Gen Z-ers, the approach is “clean” beauty and skincare over full glam. Business Insider noted that the growing popularity of VSCO makeup could affect the cosmetics industry since it does away with full-coverage foundation and colorful lipsticks.
Pop Sugar noted that Instagram influencers who do VSCO makeup usually pose with natural light to flaunt their au naturale skin, apply clear lip gloss, and have a bit of highlighter on the corner of their eyes and the bridge of their nose.
We’re not saying that you should stop wearing a full face of makeup to keep up with this beauty trend. VSCO makeup is something anyone can do if they feel like it, especially if you’re into more “natural” looks.
