During New York Fashion Week (NYFW) last September, we saw that French tip manicures made a comeback via the runways of Kith and Prabal Gurung. And as we’ve seen with spring 2020 trends, this manicure has also evolved from the traditional clear polish and white tip to more fun and colorful variations.
If you’re looking to update your manicure, here are some French tip ideas you can do.
Pastel
Instead of white nail polish, use a pastel shade like millennial pink or lilac on the tips of your nails.
Glittery
Nylon recently made a list of nail art that’s perfect for short nails, which included a glittery manicure by The Hang Edit. The nails have a clear base with black nail polish on the tips and near the cuticle, which makes the silver glitter stand out even more.
There are other designs for shimmery French manicures like diffused glitter tips and a glitter base with solid color tips.
Double French manicure
Who What Wear predicted that double French manicures will be big this year. This is when you have the standard clear base and use two colors on the tip of your nails. Make sure to choose complementary colors to create a nice effect.
Ombré
During Oscar de la Renta’s NYFW show last September, models had creamsicle ombré-effect nails made using a nude polish for the base and coral orange for the tips. You can do this effect to make any vibrant nail polish pop even more.
Drip
This French manicure design is fun and reminds us of slime-filled Nickelodeon ads. Drip nail art was popularized by Kylie Jenner last year when she got a manicure reminiscent of Kylie Cosmetics‘ packaging. For the drip effect, you can use one color or you can play around with multiple shades from pastel to neon.
