Diet Prada, the Internet’s fashion police known for speaking up against big fashion houses and industry figures for stealing designs, racism, cultural appropriation and sexism, is now on Patreon, a subscription service for exclusive content.
“Hey Dieters, we are now on Patreon! If you’ve loved our content over the last 5 years and ever wondered how you can support, subscribing to our Patreon is a great way! You’ll not only get access to exclusive content, but it’s also a meaningful way to help sustain an independent source of news and information. With your support, we can continue retaining an independent voice and full editorial and creative control,” the popular Instagram account posted.
According to its Patreon page, subscribers can expect fashion history lessons and op-eds, as well as early-access to merch drops. This, however, doesn’t mean that the fashion watchdog is going to stop calling out brands and industry leaders on Instagram. “Don’t worry though, you’ll still see the same top quality content on the Diet Prada instagram. Think of this as a safe space of specially curated content for our most fashion-obsessed followers.”
If you want to take a pea their Patreon-exclusive content, they posted a teaser of an article about the Streisand effect—the phenomenon in which attempts “to suppress something only brings more attention or notoriety to it”—and how an influencer is attempting to threaten them with legal action for one of their exposés.
If you’re interested, the lowest tier for the subscription is $5, roughly P245, per month. Diet Prada has been around for about five years now. “Diet Prada has been called “the most feared Instagram account” in the industry by the Business of Fashion. The two founders (anonymous when they founded the account in 2014 but revealed as fashion professionals Tony Liu and Lindsey Schuyler in a 2017 story on the Fashion Law), called out brands that appeared to commit what is often considered fashion’s original sin: knocking off other designers” reads a recent GQ article about the account and its recent controversy involving a satirical post about Kanye West’s drop for Gap.
