Local beauty drops we’re copping for midyear 2022

The midyear is a great time to replenish your makeup and skincare kit. Back in May, our list of local beauty drops consisted mostly of lippies and contouring products. This time around, we’re giving more attention to goodies that provide a bit of sun protection and manage facial hair.

Here are the local brands drops on our June to July radar.

Issy & Co. Cosmetics’ Solar Balms

Sunscreen for the lips? Under this unrelenting sun, absolutely. Issy & Co. Cosmetics’ Solar Balms give lips color and keep them hydrated with the added bonus of SPF30 PA+++ protection.

Retailing at ₱349, the lip screen comes in two finishes with four shades each. Its Glow shades (Playdate, Slick, Bloom, and Promiscuous) have a glossy sheen to make your lips look juicy. On the other hand, the Natural shades (Petal, Undone, Sherbet, Melodrama) have a semi-matte finish for that soft blurred look.

Happy Skin’s Second Skin Dewy Serum Cushion Foundation

Happy Skin’s best-selling serum cushion foundation is back. Previously, Second Skin only came in a matte finish. Now, the brand is also offering the Dewy Serum Cushion Foundation. The light to buildable dewy face base provides skincare benefits through its glow-enhancing serum-based formula boosted with SPF 30 and anti-blue light technology.

If you’re on Team Dewy, you can cop one of the four shades (Nude Beige, Light Beige, Soft Beige, and Golden Beige) for ₱999 each.

Filipinta Beauty’s Iced Gems Body Butter

Filipinta Beauty has dropped its first body care product: the Iced Gems whipped body butter, which is bound to remind you of the hard icing on the biscuit it’s named after. Its moisturizing ingredients include shea butter, apricot kernel oil, and jojoba oil.

It comes in six yummy-smelling fragrances: Keyk, Ube, Cotton Kendi, Babolgum, Calamansi, and Pandan. Each one-ounce container costs $6 (about ₱340) but you can also purchase a set for $32 (around ₱1,805).

Paulash Philippines’s Beauty Blade

Having trouble finding a good razor? Paulash Philippines’s foldable Beauty Blade has a sleek design that’s efficient for shaving. It’s suitable for facial hair, body hair, and hairstyling—making you feel like a hair professional at home.

For ₱360, the Beauty Blade already comes with 10 blades. After brow sculpting, you can also check out the brand’s range of lashes and lash tools.

Careline Cosmetics’s Lash Boost Mascara

Speaking of lashes, don’t you hate it when your mascara clumps? Careline Cosmetics’s Lash Boost Mascara has an hourglass wand that’s great for  building length and volume on sparse lashes while avoiding excessive clumping.

The P195 mascara is said to be smudge-proof, waterproof, but also easy to remove. Its affordability is also a big draw.
