Rihanna Officially Launches Her 7th Fragrance

Clad in a tight, baby pink Vivienne Westwood dress with matching pink Christian Louboutin heels, Rihanna could fool anyone into thinking that’s she’s past her “bad gal RiRi days.” Almost.

At the official launch of her seventh fragrance called “RiRi,” almost 1,000 people showed up at Macy’s in Brooklyn, generating more than $46,000 in sales, WWD reports.

It’s been 10 years since the girl from Barbados released Music of the Sun, her first album. “It’s been a pleasure to find a new way to create things outside of music. When I did my first fragrance, I was like ‘fingers crossed—I hope people believe I know what I’m doing, because I spent so much time on this,’” she tells WWD. “I’m lucky, and I’m grateful for their success, so I guess we’ll take it one step at a time from here.”

It appears to be the start of a new beauty empire that Rihanna has been planning all along, ever since her first makeup collaboration with MAC cosmetics in 2013. A few days ago, Refinery29 had the exclusive when they reported that the singer quietly registered the trademark “Fenty Beauty” last year.

“That is definitely something I am going to have my hands on and would love to do,” she tells the fashion and beauty website. “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve always had so much on my hands. But, this time, I’m going to make sure it happens. I’m going to find some time between albums and fragrance to do that. I promise.”

If the gorgeous, sold-out lipstick shades she helped produce with MAC are any indication, we’re pretty sure Rihanna will be seeing plenty of dollar signs in her future.
