The only thing we know of Sabina Gonzalez is that she made heads turn.
It was a memorable stint at the Inquirer Red x Maureen Disini show: In her black tube dress, she walked down the runway with grace and charm that’s reminiscent—to nobody’s surprise—of her mother, Tweetie.
Sabina, 19, is gifted with the height and frame that’s generally expected of aspiring models. Though she might not have gotten first-hand tips from her mom—“No, I didn’t ask for help,” she admits—to see Tweetie’s daughter strut her self-taught stuff is as natural as seeing her grow up. When asked if she has any plans on modeling further after her first successful gig, Sabina immediately says “no”—much to our wonder.
Like her confession, there were other things she spilled about herself the day I met her—like the fact that despite looking flawless, Inquirer Red’s September cover girl is still pretty much like the rest of us here.
#1 She’s an architecture undergrad
Currently studying at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Sabina is enjoying her time studying the arts. School is her top priority, so much so that she was constantly haunted by the lingering paperwork she left at home during her short cover shoot for Inquirer RED.
#2 She’s a big fan of Game of Thrones
Yup, she’s the series-watching and series-reading type of fan—just like everyone else, I suppose.
#3 David Fincher is her favorite director
She drops Seven—“A classic,” she says—and Fight Club and The Social Network as her top favorites. Well, who wouldn’t love the Gone Girl director for all his vision, captivating narratives , and mood-appropriate storytelling?
#4 Egomaniacs are her pet peeve
“I hate people who are so full of themselves,” she says. That makes us two in this ship, Sabina.
#5 She loves makeup
She loves it so much, she “wishes she was better [at it.]” She digs putting on eyeshadow the most, despite not preferring any go-to look for herself or following any trend. “All [the knowledge and tools] I have is pretty basic, I wish I had all these tricks to know what to do,” she admits. It’s okay, Sabina, there’s YouTube and a local fashion industry that’s more than willing to help you out soon.
#6 She’s the gym-going young adult who’s clueless about her routines
If anything, she’s far from the Instagramming #fitspos around here. This squash-playing adolescent religiously goes to the gym unlike most peers her age. But also unlike some of the early gym birds her age, she couldn’t care less about the stuff she does. “I’m not even going to pretend like I know [my routines] a lot,” Sabina tells.
#7 Woody Allen’s films are her guilty pleasure, but she admits to not watching his landmark film Annie Hall
How can someone like his films without seeing this? “Okay, here’s the thing, I haven’t seen it because everyone’s talking about how weird it is,” she admits, “It’s very closely related to his personal life and his relationships now.” Despite skipping that, she gushes about Woody’s newer films like Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Midnight in Paris.
