It’s fascinating how, growing up, Kylie was constantly eclipsed by Kendall’s popularity (and height) growing up, but in the past few months she’s managed to turn that all around with just the pump of a lip injection.
Now, she’s popular enough to have her own beauty website and lip kit, which she discussed in Galore magazine. And yesterday, she made good on some of those promises when she released her first video makeup tutorial:
Featuring makeup artist Hrush Achemyan, the two create the makeup look Kylie wore on her 18th birthday party—yes, the one where her boyfriend Tyga gave her a leased Ferrari.
But if you watch the first few minutes of the video, you’ll glimpse one of the rare moments that Kylie allows herself to be seen without makeup, and the first thing I asked was: Why? The girl looks so fresh—and still so sexy—even without using three different products to contour.
Of course, how Kylie wants to present herself to the public is her prerogative. And the clamor for her makeup tutorials shows that even with all that artifice, she’s presenting an image that many women can relate to. After all, not everybody can be like Kendall and walk out of the house with “just mascara.”
