Be Selfie-Ready Like Martine Cajucom and Jess Connelly

It pays to have good selfie skills. Nowadays, people can tell if you’ve gone overboard with the filters or the endless editing options on VSCO Cam. In the one or two photos you post (Don’t flood our feeds, please), you want to look as effortless and natural as you can. For this, it doesn’t hurt to have a good camera and  know your angles, but you can also do it with the right makeup and beauty tricks.

Scroll down as we take a look at the selfies of our #TeamPreenPH girls to see how they worked with their best features—and got us to tap twice.

Martine Cajucom

Thick, well-defined brows frame your face quite well. If you need more proof, see the easy but put-together look of Martine in her recent Instagram post. To achieve thick and neatly combed arches, try the K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Mascara (P652.50) that fills in and sets your brows with a colored gel formula so they don’t become unruly, whatever you do.

K- Palette. Available at all Beauty Bar branches. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

Jess Connelly

When you want a daytime look that’s fresh and easy to do while traveling, dab some brown eyeshadow on your lids. This automatically gives your eyes dimension and looks great with or without eyeliner. Jess would know given how she did this trick while snapping a selfie in Tokyo. I personally reach for the MAC Eyeshadow in Honesty (P1,200) with its sheer, warm golden-brown pigment that makes it easy to blend and build up if I want a little more impact to my eye makeup.

MAC. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 4, SM Makati, and SM North Edsa. For a complete list of branches and more information, visit their website.

Chanel Olive Thomas

Don’t forget to always have some color on your cheeks and lips especially if you’re going to do heavy contouring. Otherwise, you could run the risk of looking sick and sallow. Chanel nails the right lip and cheek combo that contrasts the dark background in her weekend selfie. If you’re having difficulty knowing which blush and lipstick go good together, try the Happy Skin Lip and Cheek Mousse in Fall in Love (P699). It’s a pink-orange shade that can make you look instantly healthy.

Happy Skin. Available at Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 5, and all Beauty Bar branches. For more information, visit their website.

Saab Magalona-Bacarro

When it comes to selfies, you have to make them as natural as possible so it won’t seem like you’re trying too hard. Saab does it with the perfect, just-got-out-of-bed waves. For similar tresses, integrate the Pantene Total Damage Care 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner (P658) in to your shower routine to help restore the natural bounce and shine of your hair.

Pantene. Available at all Watson’s branches. For more information, visit their website.

Laureen Uy

It’s been said that a great photo is made with great lighting. If you find yourself indoors or if you find the sunlight a bit scarce these days, you can fake the effect with a good highlighter. It’s exactly  how Laureen made us stop and double-tap her photo. Highlight your cheeks and your T-zone with the Benefit Watt’s Up (P1,600), a soft highlighter that will help you get that healthy glow without looking oily.

Benefit. Available at Greenbelt 5 and Rustan’s The Beauty Source, Glorietta 4. For a complete list of branches and more information, visit their website.
