8 Personalities Who Couldn’t Get Enough of Crupcakes This Month

No doubt you’ve been seeing this newfangled dessert called “crupcakes” on your feed this month, but what is it exactly, and is it any good? While we’ve yet to get our hands on a box (to be honest, just the thought of this caloric bomb already has us running to the gym!), there are more than a few celebs and personalities who have, and their reactions are intriguing.

First, though, what are they? As the hybrid name suggests, this new pastry is a cross between a croissant and a cupcake. While website Food Beast traced its origins to “mad junk food scientist” Nick Chipman a.k.a. the Food Dude back in July 2014, the first known appearance of the crupcake locally was in September of this year at Valero Eat Street.

Recently, though, they’ve become a regular fixture at the Serendra and Power Plant branches of Cupcakes by Sonja. At P95 a pop, this isn’t a cheap treat, and with six flavors available (green tea, hazelnut, pecan pie, banana Nutella, peanut butter speculoos, and lemon meringue), it’ll be difficult to choose—and devour—just one.

Don’t take our word for it, though. Browse through the Instagram posts of these personalities to arrive at your own verdict!

The moms-to-be
Their faces say it all: Isabel Roces-Trebol, who is five months pregnant, and BFF Valerie Delos Santos immortalize their reactions before taking a bite:

Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to take a photo of her crupcake before getting a taste. Hey, she doesn’t have a moment to lose—this momma is about to pop at nine months preggo!

The bloggers
Mother-daughter blogging tandem Jenni and Aryanna Epperson continue to disprove the notion that fashion girls don’t eat.

Nobody is slapping a “You did not eat that!” accusation on these women anytime soon!

Ditto for fashion and lifestyle blogger Cat Arambulo-Antonio, who even has a helpful tip for how she likes her crupcakes prepared:

Lifestyle blogger and Grace Home entrepreneur Grace Barbers-Baja already seems to have picked out her favorite flavor:

Mommy blogger Martine De Luna shows off some serious photography and art direction skills (along with some essential homemaking hacks—we spy a homemade cold brew in that photo!) in her post:

The gastronomes
Food critic Margaux Salcedo’s verdict is in, and we have to say, it’s hard not to take her oh-so-credible word for it:

David Ong, the coffee entrepreneur behind The Curator and EDSA BDG, is, of course, never too far behind a food trend himself:

Of course, there’s just one more Instagram account we’re stalking to help us make the final decision: Masarap Ba?
