Ria Recommends: Betina Ocampo’s F/W 2015 Collection

New York-based Filipina designer Betina Ocampo has launched her luxury T-shirt label Betina’s fall/winter 2015 collection. This time, she gives us an unconventional take on separates. She employs multiple hand-beading techniques to play up on layers and dimensions. Of course, Betina maintains its signature brand of cool: The line evokes easy elegance, inspired by the classy yet casual feel of menswear designs.

Betina consistently gets the crowd to pay attention. The line was conceived back in 2012 when the designer was still finishing her studies at Parsons The New School of Design in Manhattan. Having been raised in a family of designers, Betina combines traditional embroidery and craftsmanship with a hip and sporty feel. In 2013, the brand landed on various fashion sites abroad, lead by Vogue named her as one of the “11 Designers You Need to Know” and Elle tagged Betina as one of the “Most Stylish Women of New York.”

Betina steadily maintains her momentum. Now departing from her signature silhouettes, she gives us bolder textures, heavy hand beading, while keeping the look relaxed. Echoing what Barneys New York said back in 2013, we love how Betina’s line consistently proves to be “the new guard.”
