It’s now the season for colors and yet, celebrities tell us that we need not go overboard with the hues. In fact, they are all unanimous in this: Stick to just one color and try out monochromatic dressing!
Gone are the days when wearing just one color, head-to-toe is a no-no. Rocking monochromatic looks has never been more appropriate for the season. It’s a fresh go-to option to switch up your look (but do know that it’s more than just the usual all-black looks.)

Laureen Uy
Ready to take the streets whether roaming the cobbled streets of Jerusalem or the medieval squares of Prague, Laureen knows how to play with textures. Although her outfit is, yes, monochromatic, she gave the look more dimension by mixing various textures such as plaid, knits, and leather. To keep the look visually interesting, carry a statement bag like the Dolce and Gabbana’s Jeans Dauphine Printed Bag. Totally ingenious!
Julia Montes
Feel free to ditch your black-on-black ensemble and elevate your pairings as you mix and match bold shades from the red color family to reflect your festive spirit. Deep, dark, and a little rebellious, Julia Montes stepped out wearing an oxblood top, a dark maroon pleated midi skirt, and countered it with black accents for a long, vertical silhouette. Keep in mind to mix varied textures and tones to add much-needed dimension to the look.
Saab Magalona
Major bookworm and beauty gal Saab Magalona shows us how it’s done. If you think you still can’t go out the door all monochromatic, a tip is to incorporate subtle prints into the look. Here, she was snapped looking cool and casual in her wear-anywhere leather moto jacket and feather-print skirt, and some sporty Adidas Superstars.
Mari Jasmine
If you’re still feeling a little intimidated by debuting monochromatic looks, don’t be! Dip your toes first in the trend by opting for dark hues like black, gray, or charcoal, which are universally flattering and forgiving. Bonus points for patterns here and there. Liza Soberano
Donning a cobalt blue co-ord, Liza Soberano brought depth to the monochromatic look by opting for a different iteration: wearing clothes that have a subtle sheen to keep her outfit from falling flat and boring. When it comes to footwear, wear a badass pair of strappy gladiator heels or, if you are not keen on those, go for some chic sneakers instead.
Martine Cajucom
White could easily mean the 3P’s: prim, proper, and pristine, but Martine detracted from this sensibility by showing off some skin as she pairs it with her scarlet lip color. So when you are reaching for just one shade off the color wheel, take it as an opportunity to mix it up with different types of shapes and silhouettes.

Being one of the outfit-masterminds of celebrities like Kim Chiu and Kathryn Bernardo, Kimi Yap showed that pairing a crepe off-shoulder top and draped silk skirt (created by Martin Bautista) is a petite woman’s best bet. This trick just magically creates an illusion of longer legs and is worthy of an #ootd shot.

Joyce Pring pulled out the white card, too, along with ladies Janine Gutierrez, Mikaela Martinez, and Solenn Heusaff at the launch of GrabHeli. Take notes on what to wear when grabbing some late-night martinis or being whisked away for aerial tours around Manila with your friends. Especially with the sweltering temperatures of Manila, going all-white and taking a break from those black ensembles just makes perfect sense.

Always exceeding the style mileage at any event, fashion stylist Liz Uy wore drapey single-colored ensemble by Sassa Jimenez, which showed hints of her defined shoulders. Those seeking to try their hand at recreating this type of look would need to tone down the volume by matching a well-defined shape on top to avoid stunting your height.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, a head-to-toe white look for any type of occasion instantly spells versatility and timelessness. Case in point: Heart wore a white tailored co-ord while out with her fluffy Bichon named Caspar before meeting a client. Perhaps you want to add an extra oomph to make the look vibrant? Frolicking around BGC for an event, Georgina donned tailored and minimalist lines and edged it up with a flick of sultry dark berry lipstick—arguably the easiest way to create impact without overdoing it. In a crowd filled with techni-colored hues and wild animal prints, do not underestimate what a crisp white look can do. Bonus points if you’re able to incorporate white accessories, too.
