One thing I love about the change in seasons is that it gives me a reason to shop. I often use the weather to justify another fashion purchase. That is why it’s frustrating that being in a tropical country only limits us to only two seasons.
Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped me (and I have a feeling a lot of you out there, as well) from creating a new wardrobe because no one can wear that cute pair of sandals when the rain forces us to give in to some boots.
For those of you who are thinking of splurging on some good summer outfits, here are five pieces you should definitely put on the top of your list.
#1 A comfortable dress
A good dress won’t fail you, may it be on lazy days or for your dress-to-kill nights. Recently, I picked up a long sleeveless turtle neck dress from Lumos the Label and I love how it can transform from a casual Friday piece with sandals to a chic ensemble at night with some heels. I could even get away with wearing this at the beach given its wash and wear but quality cloth.
#2 Open-toe sandals
How else will you be able to show off that cute pedicure unless you wear an equally endearing pair of sandals? Stylish yet comfortable for long walks, it’s a good way to make sure you’re not caught in a “you-had-the-perfect-outfit-but-your-shoes-ruined-it” situation. Remember, it’s one style faux pas Olivia Palermo would never do.
#3 Dainty jewelry
Whether it’s to add something to a simple shirt or to top off a great outfit, always choose a jewelry piece that shows off your personality. Make it your signature piece in a sea of statement baubles that will be out-of-style next season.
#4 A good leather bag
Whether it’s for an overnight trip out of town or just for your working days ahead, a leather bag is a good investment and a simple way to really complete your lewk.
#5 A sturdy but cute sports bra
Is it just me or does a cute sports bra motivate me to sign up for CrossFit or take some yoga? The design may be the motivation you need to get those abs. And hey, whether you do get to finish your spin class program or not, at least you’ve got a comfortable piece good enough to wear under almost any outfit.
