A Haircare Line Recruits Model With Down Syndrome for Their Latest Campaign

Marking a revolutionary first in the beauty world, haircare line Beauty & Pin-Ups casted model Katie Meade who has Down syndrome as the new face of their latest campaign. This makes Katie the first woman with Down syndrome who is featured as an endorser of a beauty product.

The brand’s newest hair mask called Fearless Hair Rescue Treatment will feature Katie on their packaging, making her the first woman with Down syndrome who is featured on a beauty product.

Beauty & Pin-Ups CEO Kenny Kahn tells PeopleStyle that this move is a modern-day take on their pin-up girls-inspired brand. “The Beauty & Pin-Ups brand is a celebration of the empowerment of a woman and what it took to be a pin-up in 1935, and carrying that message in a modern sense. So as we were launching this product, in our mind it could have been the next traditional pin-up―but as soon as we came up with the name “Fearless” it was really easy, we were like, ‘Well Katie’s fearless,'” he says.

If this news isn’t refreshing enough, Katie’s outlook on life makes things even better. In the same interview, she says, “People see me for who I am and they see me not as someone with a disability, but that I have ability. And I like to try new different things and I inspire women to do that. Beauty belongs to everybody.”

So, if anyone from the Philippines is interested in getting this hair mask and to support Katie in this venture, you can shop the product on their website.
