Always the innovator and ever the Instagram-savvy Marc Jacobs has been posting photos of his well-manicured hands with the hashtag #MalePolish. Though not the most groundbreaking trend there is, and definitely not something other men haven’t done before, the hashtag provides a new possibility. More and more men might soon be getting manicures, thanks to the designeer.
A project created with fellow designer and artist, Jin Soon Choi, #MalePolish helps a man “put a finishing touch to his look” and perhaps is a part of the current wave to do away with labels that certain things are only for men or for women. Jin also shared to W magazine that men have been getting manicures from her since 1999, often for reasons of cleanliness and with just a coat of clear nail polish.
But with colors in the mix plus a hashtag to boot, we might soon find ourselves making manicure session dates with our male friends or gay pals. And we don’t mind.
