This Retail Brand From Our Teen Years Has Filed for Bankruptcy

The current fast fashion pace, online shopping, and the ever-changing shopping habits of teens today, may be taking a toll on some household names in fashion―one of which is American brand Aeropostale who recently filed for bankruptcy.

That said, the retailer will reportedly close down 113 stores in the US and all 41 of their stores in Canada starting this Saturday. However, the brand is hopeful that they will get through it within six months. “Aeropostale will likely emerge from Chapter 11 as a leaner entity with a smaller, but largely profitable, store base, but it does not solve the issue of relevance to the market,” Neil Saunders, chief executive of research firm Columino, tells Reuters.

So does this mean that the brand will stop selling their well-known comfy shirts and hoodies? Aeropostale CEO Julian Geiger said in a press release that they “fully intend to continue selling the latest styles at the same great prices both in stores and online.”

It’s sad for the brand, yes, and we do hope they get come back from this. And here’s to hoping they don’t close down the stores in our country.
