Nail the Au Naturel Selfie Like Pia Wurtzbach and Solenn Heussaff

Let’s face it, posting a photo of yourself on the Internet for all to see can be quite daunting at times. We’ve all experienced taking multitudes of shots, only to have three photos that you can work with. Proper lighting, flattering angles, and just the right amount of filtering must always be considered which makes Instagram photos truly an art form.

However, more laid-back natural looks have begun to pop up on our feeds and we absolutely adore it. Maybe it’s the refreshing feeling of no makeup on a vacay or reminiscing the dewy glow of summer. Whatever it is, people are stripping back and that includes some of our favorite celebs. Here are some tips to make getting that photo a little bit easier.

Laureen Uy

There’s something quite effortless and lax about beach waves. Tousled curls that are loosely draped around your face just scream ease. Don’t just save this hairdo by the ocean shore. Take that little piece of the beach with you by simply spritzing some salt spray into your mane and tousling it right after.

Rhian Ramos

That fresh-from-the-beach tan is certainly hard to maintain, but you can still achieve it even when you are back in the city with the help of some bronzer. Swipe the product along the on your cheekbones and on your temples like Rhian did—basically where the sun hits your face.

Janina Manipol

Sometimes all you need is a pair of perfectly groomed brows to feel ready to conquer the world. Gone are the days of having thin eyebrows so give your tweezers a break and let them grow. Janina embraces the slightly untamed brow look by filling it in with a shade that matches her natural hair. To cop this look, you can use either a pencil or powder for darker more defined brows then finish off with some brow gel to set your look.

Solenn Heussaff

Nothing says fresh more than dewy skin from skin. Solenn is the definition of radiant in this photo and it’s not just the newly-wed glow. Pull off the same look by applying a shimmering highlighter instead of a bronzer—dab on the high points of your face like your cheek bones, under the brow, and even on your nose and upper lip.

Dani Barretto

Our lips can get quite tired from the constant use of liquid matte lipsticks (big trend!) so lip balms are great for restoring moisture. Like Dani, swipe on a tinted balm, it’s a sure way to bring to brighten up your face on days when you don’t want to make so much effort.

Erich Gonzales

A natural flush certainly makes you look youthful and most of all, fresh. Steal Erich’s glow by finding a blush shade that fits your skin tone—it can be rose bud pink or the ones with slightly orange tones. Just be sure to apply it with a light hand so it won’t look unnatural.

Pia Wurtzbach

Pia takes a break from her usual glam look and goes for something natural. Like her, achieve that by simply curling your lashes and applying mascara from the base to the tips to make it look lush and full. Dap a bit of white eye shadow on the inner corners of your eyes to emphasize them further. Now your face looks brighter and your eyes awake and alert.
