It’s definitely sad to not have at least one IKEA store in the Philippines—we’re deprived of stylish yet affordable furniture pieces and their famous meatballs and chicken wings. Sigh. But that doesn’t stop us from looking for suppliers who bring a couple of the staples in, just so we can get our hands on it.
But you know what we want brought in, but seems to be an impossible feat? The IKEA Museum that’s set to open to the public on June 30. Yup, you read that right—IKEA will be opening a museum near their very first retail store in Sweden and it will present an array of different designs that cover their 73-year history and evolution.
The curators shared that they maintained historical faithfulness in creating the different rooms, especially the period room, and did not recreate any furniture. Instead, they looked to their archives and even had an open call for customers to bring in pieces that they didn’t have themselves. Talk about effort!
