Rising social media stars and new-gen models may have their heyday now but the true test is when you’re still a model off the runway. Joey Mead King is one of those creatures. She’s still the master of both the off-duty look and the onstage star.

#1 Shade- y lady
Always have a pair of statement sunnies. They tie any outfit together, look good with your bikini, and give you a free pass when you’re not wearing makeup.
#2 Cover it up
Cute cover-ups for the beach or for other occasions can make a simple ensemble stand out. It’s also something you should scout for abroad as they can come in interesting patterns and designs.
#3 Bare some skin
When going for a trusty all-black look, show off some skin. Breaking the color will make you avoid looking like an evil witch.
#4 Match your lippie with your purse
Again, when you’re going for a monotone ensemble, the trick of adding a pop of color never fails. Look at how Joey looks like a bad-ass matching her red lips with her purse.
#5 Break the rules
Always inject something fun to your staples and find the right time to do it. At the South Beach Gay Pride Parade, Joey spiced up her basic top and sandals with a kerchief skirt that was appropriate for the hot weather.
