LOOK: ‘Elle’ UK Unveils First LGBTQ Covers Featuring Hari Nef and Kristen Stewart

Fashion magazine Elle UK just did the unexpected for their September issue. Not only are they releasing five collector’s edition covers, they’re also featuring three LGBTQ personalities―Hari Nef, Kristen Stewart, and Amandla Stenberg.

The issue, titled “Rise of the Rebel,” comes with the magazine’s redesign. “As the fashion world CHANGES beyond measure, the world’s biggest selling FASHION magazine changes with it. ELLE UK’s new design is braver, bolder, and SMARTER,” they write on their Instagram.

That said, the covers will focus on what the stars’ influence in the fashion and entertainment world. For Hari, it’s being one of the top transgender models in the industry who’s signed to IMG Worldwide and walked for H&M’s fall 2016 collection.

Amandla, known for being an activist on cultural appropriation and has opened up about being bisexual.

And lastly, Kristen who’s simply known as “Hollywood non-conformist” for being openly queer.

The other two covers include singer Zayn Malik and a white cover embroidered by Claire Barrett.

This is huge for the publication since this is the first time they’re featuring LGBTQ cover stars. We know a lot of major titles already did this, but we’re still hoping that more would follow suit.
