Every home needs some color. Whether it’s a bright or dim room, placing something as simple as a vase of flowers can make a difference on any tabletop or corner. But what do you do if you don’t want to deal with meticulous flower arranging? You can opt for an easy box arrangement using different kinds and colors of flowers. For this one, we’re using pink and lilac Ecuadorian roses.
We had Diane Yap, owner of Petalier, show us how to do a simple box arrangement that you can do at home.

1. Put the floral foam inside the box and prep the roses by removing the protective layer of the flowers and cutting the stem at an angle. According to Diane, cutting it that way would make it easier for the flowers to absorb water and nutrients.
2. Arrange the flowers in the box. For this, Diane arranged the roses by putting one color per row. But she also says that you can go the monochromatic route or even an unorthodox arrangement when it comes to choosing colors and flowers (like peonies and hydrangeas) to use.
3. Once it’s done, make sure to place the roses in a cool place, away from direct sunlight, and water it regularly. Diane says the roses will last for only two weeks, but you can still reuse the box for another arrangement of your choice.
