There’s a Facebook post going around announcing Pia Wurtzbach as the newest host of Asia’s Next Top Model. While there’s still no confirmation from either the show or Pia, and there’s also a possibility that it might be a hoax, we couldn’t help but play with the idea.
If you’ve seen an episode or two of Top Model, there are many instances where pageant girls were told that they can’t be models because of their background. Hence, people questioning Pia’s capability to host the show―if she is hosting it.
But that aside, we think Pia’s just as good a model despite winning the Miss Universe title.
#1 She can walk the runway
You can’t deny that Pia dominated the Miss U catwalk, whether it was in a gown or a swimsuit.
She was also the star of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Collection, as well as Sherri Hill during New York Fashion Week last February.
And let’s not forget when she walked for Anthony Ramirez at last year’s Manila Fashion Festival.
So whoever started the whole “they walk too pageant-y” discussion can learn a thing or two from Pia in this category. After all, it’s about presence in the runway regardless of what you’re wearing. Which also brings us to…
#2 Her fierce smize
If Tyra Banks can teach this to contestants for several seasons of America’s Next Top Model, then Pia can probably do the same. Just one look at her Instagram photos and you’ll see how expressive she can be. Also, remember that Tyra approved of her smize too during the Miss U pageant.
#3 Posing 101
Whether it’s for a magazine feature, on the red carpet, or just casually walking the streets of New York and Manila, Pia’s pose-ready for the camera. And isn’t that one of the first things they teach on the show? Every aspiring top model should know what and when to pose before the camera clicks. It also doesn’t hurt to do some unconventional ones for more movement and edge.
#4 She knows her way around fashion and beauty
We all know by now that Pia looks good in anything she wears, from local designers like Rhett Eala and Albert Andrada to high-end brands like Chanel. We can have her reliable glam team to thank for this, but we also trust her eye in fashion which can greatly contribute to the show, if ever.
And we already know that she can do her own makeup. So imagine her being hands-on in some makeovers.
#5 Encouraging words
All aspiring models need uplifting from time to time. Pia has spent the past few months working on advocacies and doing talks all over the world as Miss Universe, so she’s well-equipped on how to interact with people.
Unless, of course, someone gets on her nerves and she ends up shouting at them too like Tyra did. But let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
