The fashion industry just lost another talent in the form of Sonia Rykiel, the French designer known for her striped (or sometimes printed) knitwear and quirky triangle-shaped red hair. She passed away at 86 years old after battling with Parkinson’s Disease for more than 15 years.
Her daughter and managing artistic director Nathalie Rykiel confirmed her death: “My mother died at 05:00 this morning at her home in Paris from the effects of Parkinson’s.”
We’ll always remember you, Sonia. Especially when we don designs that you have made famous. Rest in peace.
