Tricia Gosingtian Talks About What She’d Give Up Makeup For

When you’re a blogger and influencer, your tastes tend to be diverse. Case in point: Tricia Gosingtian, known for her fashion and beauty adventures, convinced me to get into K-Pop during this interview. “I love it because it’s so dynamic, quite like the Western scene. I also like the style and fashion they put out.”

But when it comes to hair and makeup, we tend to stick to what really works. For Tricia, it’s Tresemme and hairstylist Henri Calayag, who she welcomed to the Tresemme family yesterday. “These are two names I trust when it comes to my hair,” she says. So with that in mind, we asked her a few more of her beauty staples and even what would be more important than them in her life.

What music do you play while putting on your makeup?
There was this one shoot where they played K-Pop while preparing and shooting. It turned out to be such a fun and memorable shoot. I love K-Pop.

Who is your hair icon?
My hair icon is Olivia Palermo. She can do straight hair or a messy bun but she still looks polished. I don’t know how she does it. She’s my [ultimate] style peg and also Audrey Hepburn. I’m into that classic style.

What’s the best beauty advice you practice?
Best beauty advice I do is taking care of my skin. You can pile on so much makeup and, yes, you’ll look good. But when you have good skin, you can get away with no makeup and still feel good. It’s also helpful for me when I travel because I don’t have too much time to touch-up so it’s really all about skincare.

Matte or glossy lipstick?
In between. I like a satin finish.

Which decade do you think has the best makeup look?
I like the ’60s. I like the big lashes and the big hair. It’s still a classic look for me [compared to] the looks of the ’80s and ’90s which are more trendy. The glam look of the ’60s is still [applicable] for every day.

Long lashes or defined brows?
Brows.

What’s one thing that will make you give up makeup?
A lifetime supply of all the cameras that I want.

Which beauty vloggers do you watch to keep up with what’s new?
I’m into the Korean beauty gurus. I love Pony. I also love this Thai vlogger Pearypie. They both can do simple, classic looks along with experimental and edgy looks. They’re not just good at putting on makeup on themselves but they really push themselves to transform into a different look.

I’ll name a clothing item and then tell me what makeup item goes best with it.
Jeans
Eyebrow pen
Printed dress
Pink blush
Red heels
Lipstick
Cullotes
Mascara
