A Closer Look at Glossier’s New Fall Lipstick Shades

Glossier revealed two new shades from their Generation G collection—just in time for the fall season.

The first shade is called Zip, which is the collection’s first red lipstick among the four available shades. “The shade is fresher than a true red, poppy with an orange undertone—we kept on tweaking the balance of yellow and blue and the payoff level to make sure we had the pop factor, while still being this sheer wash that we love,” says Pauline Maynard, Glossier’s VP of product marketing and development.

Next is Leo, a diffused nude brown lipstick named after Leonardo DiCaprio. Pauline describes it as “a warm, beautiful cocoa that feels rich on fair skintones and is the perfect nude for darker skintones.” But seeing Leo’s swatch videos, the pigment may look too sheer for some.

Generation G now has six shades with a diffused matte finish. Crush and Jam are bright pink shades, while Cake and Like are lighter varieties.

Aside from new shades, Glossier also reformulated the lipsticks to make them more moisturizing. “So that was the challenge that we worked on: keeping the same finish we love but making the formula more gliding and sleek, and for longer,” Pauline says.

If you’re looking to add these to your lipstick arsenal, you can order Generation G on Glossier’s website, and they’re priced at $18 each.
