We Asked Maxene Magalona and Randy Ortiz Where They’ll Wear Their #KENZOxHM Stash

Last night, we, along with personalities and fashion VIPs were treated to a shopping party of the Kenzo x H&M collab at SM Makati to get first dibs on this vibrant and wild collection.

Just like last year with Balmain, the guests were divided into batches and were given around 15 minutes to browse racks and rummage through the accessories table. We saw celebrities like Maxene Magalona and Jenni Epperson, among many others walking out the store with oversized paper bags which were as colorful as the collection. Some could barely carry their bags alone because they looked like they bought almost all the pieces. (If you saw our Instagram story last night, you’ll know what I’m talking about.)

We’ve shown you before how wearable the Kenzo x H&M pieces are despite how intimidating the colors and prints can get―we even saw a few guests already catching everyone’s attention in their oversized kimonos, green tiger print ensemble, and Kenzo Paris gloves. But we wanted to know how the guests would pull these off and where they’d wear them if ever.

It may be hard to find out what style to pull off with this, but let these personalities help you out.

Maxene Magalona and Robbie Mananquil

Maxene: “I got a leather jacket, one top, a dress, and bags for my mom because she asked me to get it for her since I went in first. These are going to be for our Japan trip this December which is actually my first time to celebrate the New Year with my whole family and [Robbie’s] family. So it’s going to be winter so perfect yung clothes.”
Robbie: “Me, I was really eyeing for these cropped pants but they weren’t there. So I got the black sweater, the reversible green bomber jacket, and the Kenzo cap instead.”

Randy Ortiz
“I like the kimono—even though it’s for women, I’ll get one piece—and also the t-shirts. I’m leaving for Tokyo next week [so I might just wear the kimono there.] I’ve always been a huge fan of Kenzo ever since they made a reinvention a couple of years ago. It’s always such a fun collection and you can easily spot if somebody is wearing Kenzo. And 20 years ago, I would want to buy one for myself but that was expensive. So I’m looking forward to getting something inexpensive.”

Pia Magalona

“Well, I was batch 6 so I got whatever was left. But I was able to get a lot of stuff for my son [like] socks, caps, and a jacket. The rest, I asked my friends from [earlier batches] to get for me, including Maxene. [Also,] I learned from the past collections like Alexander Wang and Balmain that, in the end, I think accessories are better because you can’t wear them much with our weather. I got one kimono though and we’re going to Japan so I’ll wear it there.”

Sassa Jimenez
“[I got] mostly tops like a sweater and a button-down. I’m going to wear them probably when I travel because I actually got the thicker ones so I can wear them out of the country.”

Rhett Eala

“I got a couple of pouches which I might give out as gifts, some t-shirts for me, and the gloves maybe [I’ll wear] at Christmas parties. (Laughs)”

Ryuji Shiomitsu
“I got two shirts, a keychain, and a bag. My mom is also buying in Tokyo, so she’s getting my jackets there like the bomber jacket and the one with the wild print at the back. I can wear them here in Manila but preferably outside of the country because they’re very thick.”

Hye Won Jang

“Actually, I just want to see it because I did a shoot [for a magazine] and we already wore the clothes. So I just wanted to see the jackets and the other pieces because I like the prints. But there’s thick leather jacket which was oversized which I like—it was worn by one of my friends [during the shoot.] If ever, I’ll only wear them abroad (laughs) but there are some that you can wear here because the fabric is a bit thinner. But most of them are thick jackets and are really for abroad—unless you want to be tiis-ganda here in the Philippines. (Laughs)”

Robby Carmona

“Oh my gosh, I bought a lot! I got a few sweaters, a jacket, a neoprene hoodie, caps, bags, a lot! I’ll wear them here in Manila and definitely when I travel since it’s winter time in different countries.”

Phoemela Baranda

“I just got the basic men’s logo shirt and sweaters because it’s very me and I like wearing shirts. They’re very everyday outfits and even formalwear―just put a coat over it.”

Marie Lozano

“A jumper dress and I’m going to wear it for an interview on my show.”
