Why You Should Ditch Smokey Eyes with Soft Eyeshadows

Since we’re all wearing something sparkly for the holidays, it’s only right to contrast with a soft eye look. The season of dark burgundies have passed and it’s time to bring back the pastels and nudes.

Harper’s Bazaar rounded up some of the best holiday looks for this year, and most have soft eye looks. Likewise, recent fall/winter runways such as Oscar de la Renta and Dior focus more on eyeliners and twiggy lashes on top of muted eye looks. You can even do a no-makeup makeup look by diffusing the colors on your eyelid.

If you want to achieve this, we gathered a few palettes to give you a similar effect that’s suitable for day to night looks.

The ZOEVa En Taupe Eyeshadow Palette (P1,106) has both light beiges and dark gunmetal shimmers. If you put on the beige alone, it can brighten your eyes a bit and give you a natural look.

Whether you’re going for a soft pink or gold eye look, the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette (P675) will give you that diffused look with a bit of shimmer.

Date nights call for sultry eye looks. But you can soften it with some pink and lavender shades from the Too Faced Boudoir Eyes palette (P2,042). Slowly build up the color with the complementary dark shades for a gradient effect.

Another single-color shadow is the ARTDECO Eyeshadow Pearl in Pearly Grey Blue (P350). Be lighthanded with this for that faded blue-grey effect that’s not too dark.

If you’re fair-skinned or just want to add a dab of sparkle on your lid, opt for the MAC in Forgery (P947). The sterling silver color will give just enough shine that’s not too overpowering.

MAC. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source and SM Megamall.
