All the Food That #SaltBae Can Salt for You

I remember the first time I saw his video and all the memes that were attached to it and I was hooked—and laughing by myself in the car.

Meet Nusret Gökçe, the Turkish chef based in Dubai, or who we all dubbed as #SaltBae. He’s passionate about his steakhouse business and the way he properly cuts his steak, but the best of the best would have to be how he salts the food he serves. It’s so good that it birthed a thousand memes and the yearning for him to salt everything we eat. To satiate that yearning, we listed down a few things we love that can be brought to a different level once blessed by #SaltBae… and #SaltBae alone.

Popcorn from Apartment 1B

This snack is actually the office favorite—thanks to our bosses who always bring some to share. But we feel it could possibly be taken to another level (not that it’s not heavenly already) by just having Nuserat salt the hell out of this popcorn. Apartment 1B. 132 L.P. Leviste cor. Sedeno Streets, Salcedo Village, Makati City.

Angus Rib Eye USDA Prime Grade Steak from Mamou

Steak is good and no matter what you think (sorry vegetarians?), we still believe this to be true. Our favorite has got to be Mamou—soft and perfectly cooked meat. Plus the fact that we can have the fatty bits toasted to perfection. Mmmm. Salt this for me, #SaltBae. Mamou. G/F Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Valrhona Salted Caramel Cake by Wildflour Bakery + Café

I award this cake as the best cake in Manila, no doubt at all. It’s super moist without it looking mushy and has the perfect chocolate taste contrasted with salted caramel. And I guess you know what’s lacking this awesome cake… Salt from #SaltBae.

Wildflour Bakery + Café. Frabelle Business Center, 111 Rada st., Legaspi Village, Makati City.

Truffle Fries from Bank Bar

This speakeasy bar might be known for their drinks, but they also serve good bar chow. Case in point: Their truffle fries—finished off by #SaltBae.

Bank Bar. G/F RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Center, 26th cor. 25th Streets, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Pulled Pork from Mighty Quinn’s

We recently featured smokehouse from NYC and we couldn’t get enough of it. We even had our editorial meeting-slash-dinner there last night. So if there’s something that we want #SaltBae salt, it would be their Pulled Pork with Dirty Rice. And maybe some Brontosaurus Rib too!

Mighty Quinn’s. 3/F SM Mega Fashion Hall, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
