How to Dress Like Emma Stone in ‘La La Land’

There are so many reasons why you need to watch La La Land. Aside from the fact that they bagged the most Golden Globes awards, the fashion choices are just on point. We can’t help but ogle at all of Emma Stone’s outfits in the film.

Ranging from dressed-down to glamorous, Emma didn’t look bland in every scene. In a CNN interview, costume designer Mary Zophres said that she worked closely with the production designer to complement the outfit with the scenes. No wonder she got nominated in this year’s Costume Designers Guild Awards.

Of course, we’d like to dress like Mia Dolan too. So we’re looking back at some of her looks and where we can cop pieces to achieve something similar.

Let’s start with this iconic printed canary yellow dress. This look is plastered on the film’s official promo posters and it’s what Emma wore while she tap-danced with Ryan Gosling. It’s a fun outfit you can rock during a stroll or at a pool party.

Shop the look: Miss Selfridge Printed Collar Tea Dress (P2,348). Available at Greenbelt 5.

You can’t go wrong with a clean white top. Emma’s character works in a café while in a plain white button-down with slacks or a skirt. It’s a versatile piece which you can pair with anything.

Shop this look: H&M Viscose Shirt (P899). Available at SM Makati and SM Megamall.

One of the things I loved about the film was how Emma and Ryan’s outfits complemented each other. During one of their dates, Emma wore a tie-up blouse and a flowy light pink skirt which looked like it was pulled from the `50s.

Shop the look: Zara Tulle Skirt (P1,995). Available at Power Plant Mall and SM Megamall.

Another classic date night look you can easily cop is this black dress.  Simply partner it with a clutch or simple jewelry, and you’re good to go.

Shop the look: Givenchy Lace Detail Shift Dress (P65,792). Available at Farfetch.

We don’t know about you but this royal blue dress was made for a party. Emma showed this off while dancing in the street with her girlfriends. This is perfect for when you feel like striking a pose and want to make an unforgettable impression anywhere.

Shop the look: Saloni Fara Stretch-Cotton Midi Dress (P26,577). Available at Net-a-Porter.

Is it obvious yet how obsessed we are over the dresses? Because we’d like to wear this peach-pink dress at a weekend brunch.

Shop the look: Equipment Adalyn Washed-Silk Mini Dress (P18,883). Available at Net-a-Porter.

Emma brought another meaning to the working woman look. In one scene, she donned a corporate outfit complete with a pinstripe blazer, elegant updo, and red lipstick.

Shop the look: M&S Collection Pinstripe Double Breasted Jacket (P3,555). Available at Glorietta 4 and Greenbelt 5.

Among all the heels that Emma wore in the film, these nude ones caught our attention. Simply because you can wear it with any outfit—a dress or pants—and it’s a must-have staple.

Shop the look: Aldo Gratia High Heels (P3,752). Available online.
