Sportswear Giant Reveals First Athletic Hijabs for Muslim Women

Nike continues to do right with their inclusive sportswear. Last December, they released their first plus size line. Now, they introduced a line for Muslim women called Nike Pro Hijab.

This is the first line of sportswear hijabs from the brand. According to Nike, they aim “to serve today’s pioneers as well as inspire even more women and girls in the region who still face barriers and limited access to sport: Fewer than one in seven girls participate in locally recommended sport activities for 60 minutes or more.”

Nike adds that the line took a year to make as they went through product testing with top Muslim athletes like Zahra Lari and Manal Rostom. They also sought opinions on the hijabs’ designs to meet the cultural requirements of different Muslim countries.

It’s nice to see more inclusivity for Muslim women these days, especially with the growing immigration issue in the US. We even saw the first hijabi model Halima Aden’s runway debut at Yeezy Season 5’s NYFW show.

There’s no date yet on when Nike Pro Hijab will officially launch. Meanwhile, we’re already expecting more inclusive products from the sportswear giant.
