Feel Like a Modern-Day Princess With This ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Fashion Line

The Beauty and the Beast hype is real. Uniqlo just collaborated with Disney for a limited-edition capsule collection in time for the film’s premiere.

Designer Christopher Kane created ready-to-wear pieces for men and women. According to Refinery29, Christopher wanted to create a wardrobe that’s fit for a “strong, heroic female character.” True enough, it ranges from dainty and bold dresses with rose accents, as well as comfy t-shirts and accessories. There are also sweatshirts and leggings inspired by the Beast.

Another special thing about the collection is that Disney and Christopher worked with Eco-Age, a sustainable brand consultancy. This allowed them to put out clothing made from ethically sourced materials. This is also fitting as Emma Watson, who plays Belle, is a fan of environment-friendly fashion.

“As a designer, I’ve always used flowers, and science and nature have always been a huge influence, but I think we went to a very dark place with the rose [in this collection], and obviously it’s one of the biggest icons, it’s symbolic of the love between Belle and the Beast,” Christopher says. “But it’s not over-the-top, it’s not too princess-y, which I think everyone was expecting. The fact is, Belle wasn’t a princess, she’s a normal woman with huge aspirations, which I always thought was so attractive about the film.”

The collection will drop online and in stores on March 16. You can also pair the pieces with your Happy Skin lip kit, and you’re all set to watch the film.
