The Bralette Trend: 5 Styles to Try for Summer

A couple of years ago, cropped tops were everywhere during summer. This time, the underwear-as-outerwear trend is going to be in full swing, particularly the bralette.

The bralette trend started some time last year when fashion sites spotted models like Martha Hunt and Kendall Jenner wearing it. It’s basically the stylish version of the t-shirt bra—it’s airy to wear and you can match it with anything. Fast-forward to today, recent runways have capitalized on sheer and lace pieces, even freeing the nipple as an empowering statement.

Before you hesitate, there are more than one ways to wear a bralette. Yes, you can wear it on its own. But if you’d rather layer it with something else, note down our suggestions which you can wear during the summer.

Do you ever think how it’s a waste to wear a lace-heavy bra and just have it hidden under your shirt? Now you don’t have to. Show off your lace bralette by unbuttoning your shirt. Just enough for the lace to peek out.

Shop: H&M Lace Bralette (Available at SM Makati) and Uniqlo Women Striped Stand Collar Long Sleeve Shirt (Available at SM Makati)

Another way to style it is with an off-shoulder top that’ll fall until the bralette’s cup. This is best when your bralette has intricate details like embroidery or beadwork on the strap and cup. This look is great paired with either jeans or shorts.

If you have a plain bralette, pair it with a lace see-through shirt. That way, it won’t look too bland. This can also work with a high-waisted skirt.

Shop: Zara Bralette Top (Available at Powerplant Mall) and Mango Guipure Blouse (Available at Glorietta 2)

This can also work with fitness clothes. Whether you’re working out or just want to go out in athleisure wear, a tank top and bralette pairing is the way to go.

Shop: Calvin Klein Jeans Bralette ‘Lift’ (Available at Greenbelt 5) and Bassike Scoop-Back Cotton Vest Top (Available online)

If you’re going to the beach or a music festival, you can try wearing a colorful bralette by itself. Just over up with a thin cardigan or kimono jacket to avoid the sun from burning your skin.
