If you’re keeping up with Kylie Cosmetics, you’d know that they just released their first line of blushes earlier this week. They come in five different shades with risque names like “Hot and Bothered” and “X-Rated.” But fans aren’t too happy about the names “Barely Legal” and “Virginity.”
The criticism started when Kylie Jenner teased the blush names on Snapchat and Instagram. We’re all used to hearing sexual shade names like NARS’ Orgasm and Deepthroat. However, fans say that Kylie is sexualizing underaged girls and normalizing pedophilia with these names. Especially since her fanbase is mostly made up of young girls.
Some also pointed out how Kylie is possibly referencing her relationship with Tyga. There were speculations in the past that the two got together when Kylie was still underage.
Kylie has not spoken about her inspiration for the names. Though she is known for naming her products based on people she loves like Koko K, Kourt K, Mary Jo K, and Dolce K.
The names “Barely Legal” and “Virginity” do connote pedophilia. It’s the same when Kat Von D named a lipstick “Lolita.”
What do you think? Did Kylie Cosmetics go too far with these shade names?
