Spruce Up Your Outfit By Adding a Belt

It’s Saturday and I am binge-watching Girlboss on Netflix as I am sure most of you are. A few episodes in and there is a scene wherein Sophia glams up a drab vintage dress by cutting off the sleeves and adding a simple belt. “Just add a belt” is piece of fashion advice many people give, some don’t believe it but in most cases it can actually work. Take for example that scene in Devil Wears Prada where Miranda Priestly adds a turquoise belt to an already beautiful dress.

If you are looking to accessorize your outfits, try out a belt. Similar to necklaces and rings, there are many designs and colors to choose from. Pick the ones that best suit your fashion sense. Don’t know where to begin? We’ve listed four kinds of belts to start off your collection.

YSL classic leather belt

Just like a little black dress, a classic leather belt is a closet staple. Have one in black and brown to match your outfits accordingly. This black one from YSL is definitely an investment piece. Available online.

H&M braided belt

The braided belt adds a dressier touch to any outfit. Add this to one of your favorite dresses and you have a new look. This style comes in a variety of colors but stick to brown if you want a more classic touch. Available at SM Makati.

Dolce & Gabbana leopard print belt

If you’re looking to dress up a basic outfit, adding an animal print belt is an easy way to do that. Pair this belt with some jeans, a white t-shirt, and some killer boots, for a casual look. Available online.

ZARA sash-style belt

Statement belts can be anything from an intricate buckle to ones with tassels. This one from Zara is a wide black belt with silver stud details. This is a great way to accessorize when you don’t really feel like putting much effort into your outfit. Available at Greenbelt 5.
