Blogger Bea Marin Is Not Here For Chokers and Bodycon Dresses

Bea Marin is one influencer to watch out for. Starting out as a blogger, she shared her love for beauty, fashion, and more. She later made a name for herself with brand endorsements like Keds and Tresemmé.

Meanwhile, this young lady is moving at her own pace—balancing school and other commitments. We decided to chat with Bea at WEAVE‘s store opening for tidbits on fashion, blogging, and even her favorite TV shows.

Do you have any new fashion discoveries?

Lately, it’s WEAVE. I’m wearing one of the dresses right now and I’m super obsessed. I’m trying to incorporate more feminine pieces into my looks because I’m more boyish.

What look do you usually go for on a regular day?

Casual and laidback, kind of androgynous. I like to mix masculine and feminine elements.

What’s your favorite beauty find recently?

It’s not really new, but I’m just more into highlight right now.

What’s your favorite highlighter?

Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector.

What’s your go-to makeup look?

I like to mix [natural and smokey looks.] I don’t really have a specific favorite because I like smokey eyes, toned-down lips, glowy, and slightly contoured skin.

How has your blog changed ever since you started?

When I started, it was more of a hobby when I was still in high school. Now, it turned into a business and I’ve reached a bigger audience.

How do you make sure that you have the right content for your blog and social media feeds?

I plan my feeds. I don’t post instantly, it usually takes me about a day. For an event, it takes me a few hours to make sure that it goes well with my feed and that the pictures fit my aesthetic. I don’t take pictures that are “wala lang.”

What’s a style faux pas that you want to avoid next time?

Chokers. I feel like it’s getting kind of overdone and I was so obsessed with chokers. I had so much! Now I’m trying to avoid it because there needs to be a new [trendy] accessory.

So, what’s your accessory of choice now?

Big earrings! I’ve never worn earrings [that much.] I thought my ear holes were going to close and now I’m just getting into it.

Who’s your style icon?

Aimee Song.

A famous personality you’d want to meet.

Rihanna. I want to watch her live.

What’s your most memorable trip?

I think [when I went to] Hong Kong last year. It was with my friends and it was my first time traveling in an international flight alone because they went ahead. It felt really independent and fun.

What was your favorite part of that trip?

I guess just being with my friends [in Hong Kong.] Also the shopping—there are so many nice finds there, especially in bazaars.

What’s playing nonstop on your playlist right now?

Kendrick Lamar’s new album. My favorite song is “Love.”

Favorite series to binge-watch.

I have a lot like Riverdale and I just finished Girlboss.

If you were to live in these shows, which one would you choose?

Probably live Sophia Amoruso’s life because it’s more glam. [LaughsRiverdale is full of mystery and there’s death, so never mind! [Laughs]

A piece of advice you’d like to tell your younger self.

Just keep working hard. It’s normal to go through fallbacks in life because it will lead to more success eventually.

Advice on taking good photos and posing for photos.

Find your own style and don’t just copy what you see on Instagram or whatever’s “in.” Stick to what you feel like is true to you and don’t try so hard. Eventually, everything will come naturally for you. Also, find inspiration that resonates with your photo style.

What’s an Instagram trend you’d want to try and don’t want to try?

I can’t think of anything I want to try right now. But I don’t want to do the ones that have already become basic like chokers, bodycon dresses, and high-heeled boots. I want them to change up a bit, hopefully.
