Why this Designer Shoe Label Will Never Lend Pairs to Hollywood Actresses

Christian Louboutin recently revealed that he never allows for his shoes to be pulled out or borrowed for shoots nor shows. You have to pay for them every time. This includes the pairs Carrie Bradshaw used in Sex and the City.

Talking to Fern Mallis at a recent event, the shoemaker reveals that he doesn’t believe that lending out his wares makes for good exposure. “Nothing is great publicity when it doesn’t pay. That’s my job. I design shoes and people buy them,” he said.

He also mentioned how friends used to urge him to send shoes at the height of Sex and the City, but he kept to his rule that applies to Hollywood’s best and even to royalty. It’s part of a strategy to keep the shoes covetable, it seems. “You’re dying to have this thing or that thing? That’s an imporant feeling that everybody should be able to have, regardless of how famous you are.”

May you be a working girl or a top-earning celebrity, it turns out that a Louboutin shoe equalizes us all.
