Ikea Collaborates with Off-White Designer Virgil Abloh

Thanks to Balenciaga, we’ve all become familiar with the infamous blue tote bag from Ikea. The bag has even been made into masks and shoes as seen on social media.

Now, the Swedish furniture brand is working with designer Virgil Abloh to give a new look to the Frakta bag. The founder and creative director of Off-White is seen on Ikea’s Instagram working on a bag in their prototype store in Sweden.

Virgil also posted a video on the Off-White Instagram page with the caption “ex-architecture student meets ‘pattern making’ @ikeatoday”

According to Allure, Virgil released a statement saying, “We’re in a moment where Ikea is transcending, and people are bringing this ‘do it yourself’ culture to the blue bag. What I’m most interested in is doing that process in partnership with the brand. It’s allowing me to put my opinion on a classic. It’s unique, and distinctly as much of Off-White as it’s Ikea.”

There is no release date yet but we’re sure that people will be flocking the store to try to get their hands on one.
