Five Tub Face Masks for Every Skin Concern

In the past year, I have accumulated a number of face masks that I regularly incorporate in my skincare routine and recently my favorites come in tub form. (I still love my sheet masks!) Why? Because I’ve personally enjoyed trying out different mask textures that target specific skin concerns. Clay masks can draw out oil and sebum, gel masks can pump up the moisture, while cream can either be firming or brightening. Masking possibilities are truly endless.

Tip: You can use different masks on different areas of your face. An example is to use a brightening mask on your cheeks, apply the purifying mask on your T-zone, and finally apply a tightening mask on your forehead.

Great, right? Now we list down five tub masks that you can try depending on your skin concern.

Yllume Ultimate Illuminating Complex Mask

Category: Brightening

This illuminating mask is perfect for when your skin feels dull as it’s known to give a glow that comes from within as the active ingredients reach the deep layers of your skin. Colourless carotenoids (harvested from white tomatoes) and hydroquinone help heal and calm your skin, and at the same time evens out hyper-pigmentation. Available at BeautyMNL.

Kiehl’s Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque

Category: Moisturizing

Moisturizing masks tend to feel heavy on my skin, so it was a joy to try a mask that comes in a cooling gel-form that can be used night and day, every day. The hand-picked calendula petals have anti-inflammatory nutrients that leave your skin refreshed while aloe vera increases your skin’s water content. What you get is supple skin sans the heavy sticky feeling! Available in Greenbelt 5.

La Mer Lifting and Firming Mask

Category: Firming

Indulge a little with a tub of La Mer’s Lifting and Firming mask. It boasts of their Concentrated Miracle Broth (this is trademarked, BTW) and Concentrated Lifting Ferment that helps tighten, firm, and refine your skin. Pro tip: Extend the application to your neck to help prevent signs of aging. Available in Rustan’s Makati.

Banila Co. The Blacks Cooling Clay Mask

Category: Purifying

When your skin is feeling a little clogged and oily, bust out a tub of The Blacks Cooling Clay Mask. It is infused with Canadian colloidal clay that rids you of unwanted facial oils (sebum, ew!) and peppermint oil that leaves a cooling effect as it tightens your pores. Yes, yes, and yes please. Available in Glorietta 4.

Mario Badescu Healing & Soothing Mask

Category: Anti-Acne

If you’re looking for a mask that can calm down acne, look no further as we suggest you reach for a tub of Mario Badescu Healing and Soothing mask. It has what they call Balsam Peru, an anti-inflammatory that busts acne but doesn’t dry out your skin. Tip: Use it with Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion. Available at Sephora.ph.
