Every once in a while, we see Hollywood celebrities wearing pieces made by Filipino designers. Favorites often include red carpet dresses from Mark Bumgarner and Michael Cinco.
Aside from them, of course, these stars also love donning items from other brands and designers. Further proof that Filipino fashion is slowly gaining traction in the international market. So we did a little style-spotting to find the celebrities that wore Pinoy-made pieces.
Miley Cyrus and Rooney Mara: Susi Studio
The Emma Watson-approved shoes are also loved by pop singer Miley Cyrus and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo actress Rooney Mara. Susi Studio is known for their cruelty-free footwear, made only with sustainable materials. Both Miley and Rooney wore these shoes at red carpet events and TV guestings. Miley’s personal favorite is the Brigitte platforms, which she owns in black and red gingham.
Priyanka Chopra, Nikki Reed, and Mel B.: Francis Libiran
Francis Libiran has a long list of celebrity clients, both locally and internationally. With good reason too as his architectural silhouettes are head-turners. Some of his creations were worn by Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra on an Emmy Magazine editorial; Nikki Reed at the Oscars; and former Spice Girl Mel B. during VH1 Big Music in 2015.
Grimes: Proudrace
Canadian singer Grimes was spotted wearing Proudrace’s “Like a Virgin” tee some years back. The streetwear brand is known for their graphic pieces and deconstructed, oversized ensembles. A complete opposite from Grimes’ whimsical musical aesthetic.
Lady Gaga: Mich Dulce
You can find Mich Dulce‘s hats in several stores abroad like Fenwick and Selfridges. So it’s no surprise that Lady Gaga was able to pick up the Urban Kitty Hat in 2013. The black cap has cat ears that even Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift would love once they grow out of their cat-ear headbands.
Queen Mathilde of Belgium: Aranáz
This list doesn’t just include celebrities, but also royalty. Queen Mathilde of Belgium was repeatedly spotted carrying Aranáz clutches like the Gaia and Mira from their Glamour Collection. Similar to their other bags, these clutches were made from wooden materials like bamboo. The only difference is that gems are incorporated onto the bags.
