If Princess Diana Were Here, What Would She Shop?

It’s almost 20 years since Princess Diana passed away, but her legacy still lives on. You can see more of it in HBO’s latest documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.

Another aspect that Diana is known for is through her fashion. Her iconic looks included her green Catherine Walker sequined gown and “John Travolta” dress by Victor Edelstein. There were also blazer and pencil skirt combos. On off days, she’s seen wearing colorful sweaters. Last February, the Kensington Palace even put these ensembles on display in an exhibit.

If Diana were here today, how would she put a modern spin to her style? We list down some picks that the late Princess of Wales would’ve loved.

Stella McCartney Single-Breasted Blazer

Princess Diana loved wearing blazers, giving that power woman feel in the ’80s and ’90s. She paired blazers of different colors with either skirts or pants, and looked sharp in them. Available on Farfetch.

Massimo Dutti Long Textured Weave Turquoise Dress

For formal galas, Diana wore gowns with flowy silhouettes and didn’t shy from bright colors. This turquoise Massimo Dutti dress’ straight-cut skirt is a comfortable choice for any evening affair. Available online.

Solace London Ysabel One-Shoulder Crepe Gown

The “John Travolta” gown was an off-shoulder piece that flattered Diana’s shape. It also had a pleated design, giving it more dimension. For a simplistic and sultrier approach, opt for the Solace London one-shoulder gown. Available on Net-a-Porter.

Mango V-neck Sweater

Diana’s penchant for sweaters reminds me of the colorful ones you wear during Christmas. This one from Mango doesn’t have loud embroidery, but the bright yellow color is still eye-catching. Available at Glorietta 2.

Zalora Collection High Collar Blouse

Another one of Diana’s signature looks is the pie crust collar blouse. If you look up the piece, Diana’s name would almost instantly pop up in the results. Telegraph UK noted that the frills gave her an innocent and prim look. But now, frills are more toned-down so go for this high-collared blouse from Zalora. Available on Zalora PH.

Topshop Cooper Crocodile Effect Clutch Bag

Diana always carried around a clutch. So much that Dior named “Lady Dior” after her. This Topshop Cooper Clutch Bag is slightly bigger from her usual accessory, but it can carry more essentials. Available at Shang-ri La Plaza Mall.
