Apparently, Beer Isn’t For Women Unless It Comes in a Pink Bottle

Going for a drink with the gals later? We heard Aurosa made a beer specifically for women in case you want to skip the “girly” Cosmopolitan.

You read that right. The Czech-based brewing company launched a “beer for women.” According to the website, this is for women who want “to prove that women can succeed anywhere without having to adapt and sacrifice their natural femininity.”

Sure, but they’ll adapt to the idea that beer is essentially for men. Not to mention that Aurosa assumed that women are “disregarded in the beer industry.”

What does this even have that you won’t find in “manly” beers? Oh, maybe it’s the grey and pastel pink packaging with marble-like finish. It does look great on their Instagram feed. But sadly, it’s still just beer put in a pretty vessel so women can find it more appealing. (Though I wonder if they added edible glitter in there.)

Meanwhile, Aurosa CEO Martina Smirova explained that their intention wasn’t to create a sexist product. “What our message carries is different, we are here to support those women who like to celebrate their femininity and elegance, who want a nice glass of beer with their dinner and who enjoy something elegantly packaged,” she said. “That is all. We are giving them choice, we are giving them diversity and there should be nothing shameful against that.”

Slay by Mic pointed out that while this will indeed add diversity in the beer market, the fact that it’s marketed just for women is the problem. It comes in a pink bottle, of course we should love it. [Rolls eyes]

Excuse me while I plan a drinking date with normal, non-gendered beer.
