Kate Moss Takes a Bath with Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, and David Bowie

Architectural Digest gives us a rare look into the home of model Kate Moss. The main focus is her bathroom and the wallpaper of which Kate was very particular about so it resulted in a hand-painted work of art.

Anemones of Light is the name of the wallpaper the model asked from de Gourney, a bespoke wallpaper-house. The pattern is made of “cascading blooms overlapping shards of solar radiance” rendered in gray, white, and silver. It reflects Kate’s favorite time of the day: dusk. “Picture a summer night when it goes silvery-blue from the light of the moon,” she said to describe the wallpaper that will soon be part of de Gourney’s permanent collection.

Other than this the bathroom is adorned with a portrait of Kate Moss done by Irving Penn and photographs of Elvis Presley, Elizabeth Taylor, and David Bowie. Along with this is a triptych featuring Kate and the late Alexander McQueen, a dear friend of the model. Kate further reveals how the bath is essential to her, apart from where she takes hot baths made of her signature blend of Santa Maria Novella carnation oil and magnesium flakes, she sees it as a place to getaway. “My bathroom in the country has a chesterfield, and when I have my birthday parties there, we always end up hanging out in it,” Moss explains. “It’s got a record player, it’s cozy, it’s fun—there’s potions and lotions and smelly things. Everyone’s welcome.”

It comes as no wonder that for this bathroom in Kate’s London home, so much attention is given down to the collection of antique perfume bottles on the vanity. The place is also where the rest of the house takes it design cue from. A morning version of Anemones of Light is the wallpaper for a hallway in Kate’s home which she describes, “It’s like the feeling of when the sun is just coming up at a [music] festival, and you have that glowy light. This one is pastels and neons—quite psychedelic.”
