Designers always bring something different to our basics. While they come out with their own under their respective brands, they also do collaborations. One of the most popular being sneakers.
We’re not going to lie, each pair is a splurge. But they’re also considered must-haves for shoe collectors. Here are some notable collabs which incorporate the designers’ signature styles.
Vans x Karl Lagerfeld
This capsule collection is dominantly monochromatic with Karl’s name and profile printed on the apparel and footwear. Karl also put his own spin on the iconic checkerboard slip on by using his silhouette to create the pattern.
Nike x Virgil Abloh
Off-White creative director Virgil Abloh reconstructed the 10 iconic Nike sneakers. He also went a little meta with words like “AIR” and “Shoelaces” printed on the shoes. According to Dezeen, Virgil recreated them as homage to how they broke barriers in terms of style and performance.
Converse x Comme des Garçons
Comme des Garçons and Converse rolled out two collaborations this year. In February, they came out with polka dot Chuck Taylors with CDG’s heart icon. And this coming November, they’re coming out with black and white high-top sneakers which look more sleek.
Supreme x Louis Vuitton
Supreme x Louis Vuitton caught everyone’s attention when it debuted at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. The Run Away Sneaker comes in various colors like white, red, and black, and comes with the LV emblem. Some pairs also have Louis Vuitton’s signature pattern.
Puma x Tomas Maier
Tomas Maier, creative director of Botega Venetta, decided to rework Puma’s 1968 sneaker, the Roma. He told Esquire that he took a “modern, minimalistic approach” with a black and white color scheme, plus a classic gum sole. The shoe itself is made with white leather and black suede.
Adidas x Alexander Wang
There are so many Adidas x Alexander Wang collabs that we’re starting to lose count. Last year’s capsule collection featured monochrome pieces, including a sneaker with a black, brown, and white sole. Meanwhile, Alexander’s latest collab is much brighter which includes a black sneaker with neon green linings.
Keds x Kate Spade New York
True to Kate Spade’s feminine aesthetic, these glittery sneakers is made with Keds’ canvas material and comfortable insoles. They also come in various colors, patterns, and styles which cater to all women.
