Cindy Crawford and Dita Von Teese Mourn the Death of Hervé Léger

Fashion designer Hervé Leroux, formerly Hervé Léger, died on Oct. 6 as confirmed by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. He was 60 years old.

He was the man behind the famous skin-tight bandage dress which was in vogue among supermodels and celebrities from the late ’90s until the ’00s.

Hervé started out as a milliner until he began working with Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel and Fendi in the ’80s. From 1984 to 1985, he introduced his own label. He then made his mark through various designs along with freelance work for Lanvin and a 54-piece collection, focused on designs with a “body-conscious silhouette.”

In 1998, his brand was bought by BCBG Max Azria. After losing the rights to use his name for commercial purposes, Hervé took on the name Leroux. Under this name, he would still continue to accept custom design orders.

Upon the news of his passing, Cindy Crawford and Dita Von Teese posted about the memories the designer left behind.
