Take #Foodstagrams Against These Witty One-Liner and Cheesy Quote Backdrops

The hunt for Instagram-worthy restaurants continues. We started with neon-lit places to complete your Riverdale aesthetic. Now, we’re turning our attention to those with typographies you can use as your #foodporn or #OOTD backdrop.

Many of these may remind you of the cheesy quotes you’ll see on Pinterest. But there are also witty one-liners and artfully-made text that’ll catch your eye. Of course, you can also grab good food and drinks while formulating your next IG post. So go list these places down for future reference.

20:20

The first time I visited 20:20, the first thing I noticed was their huge mural. It has the lyrics of Iggy Pop’s “Search and Destroy” along with drawings of an all-seeing eye and skulls. This is the perfect backdrop for your OOTDs and for live performances. Located at 20a La Fuerza Plaza 1, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Commune

Commune has a chalkboard wall where they write their must-try drinks and snacks. You’ll also see a small calendar behind the counter where the staff put sticky notes on. They also occasionally add chalk doodles around what’s written to make the wall look more fun. Located at 36 Polaris Street, Makati City.

FUCT MNL

One of the most prominent designs of FUCT MNL are the green neon signs stating the seven deadly sins. You just need to find the right angle to capture each word for your feed. If you can’t do an OOTD, just take a photo of your drink with the text in the background. Located at Unit 7, La Fuerza Building, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Early Night?

In one of the corners of Early Night?, there’s a semi-circular couch and a table. The wall next to it has the phrase, “It’s never too late for an early night.” Feel free to take photos with your friends if you manage to reserve that spot. Located at 2/F Fort Strip, 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Mr. Roboto

This Japanese restaurant has a mecha theme that will remind you of your childhood cartoons like Voltes V and Mega Man. Outside, you’ll find the words “SECRET SECRET” next to a Voltes V statue. So you get a typography backdrop and get to take a photo with your childhood hero. Located at 2294 Access Road, Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Common Folk

If you’re looking for another cozy café to hang out in, go to Common Folk. Aside from coffee, they also serve meals and pastries to last you for the whole day. Don’t forget to take a photo with their “No bad days” neon text to add brightness to your feed. Located at 79 Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.

Kushikatsu Daruma

This restaurant is best known for their deep-fried skewers and their firm reminder to not double dip in the sauce. That said, they have posters and banners that say “NO DOUBLE DIPPING!” scattered around the place. Even their big sign outside has these words in different colors. It’s a good backdrop while you munch on your fried tonkatsu and camembert cheese skewers.
