Back in 2013, luxury sweaters were categorized as the new status symbol for the winter season. You’ll think that copping one is too pricey than the usual, but so much goes into making a designer sweater. The Row told Daily Mail that their $4,490 piece is made from cashmere-wool took 90 hours to domestically produce in New York.
It’s simple: If you want a comfortable sweater made from the finest material, be ready to dish out some serious cash. Think of them as an investment you can wear a few times a year here or abroad. Because let’s face it, it gets too warm in the Philippines to wear a sweater on a daily basis.
For this holiday season, we’re looking at some designer sweaters for cold weather days. We also paired them with celebrities who might love them as well.
Nadine Lustre in Off-White
When she’s not wearing bejeweled Manolos, Nadine is often seen in more laid-back pieces. This varies from cropped tops, T-shirts, and athleisure pants. A good addition to her wardrobe is this Off-White Global Warming Blossom Weather Sweater. This piece has graphic texts “GLOBAL WARMING?” and “woman” printed on the front, adding a fun element while starting conversation in an unconventional manner. Off-White is also known for its unapologetic streetwear, which might just resonate with Nadine. Available on Farfetch.
Lovi Poe in J.Crew
Lovi has been traveling a lot lately, the most recent being Italy (where she also met Eddie Redmayne). She also loves wearing chic and elegant clothing while strolling the foreign cities. This cashmere turtleneck sweater from J.Crew can be worn in cold countries in Europe or the States. It can also be easily paired with blue or black jeans. We can imagine Lovi in this while she drinks her favorite turmeric latte. Available on Net-a-Porter.
Juliana Gomez in Gucci
The 17-year-old model has a laid-back style consisting mostly of monochromatic and sometimes pastel pieces. If we were given the power to dress Juliana in something with a graphic print, it would be this magenta wool sweater from Gucci. It has an embroidered portrait of Instagram star Helen Downie, aka Unskilled Worker, on the front. Available at Greenbelt 4.
Anne Curtis in Miu Miu
Thanks to Anne’s love for anything K-drama, you can sometimes see her channel that in her fashion choices. (Spot: her “Goblin’s bride” shirt and the socks-and-heels combo.) For something similar to this aesthetic, we chose this lace-trimmed sweater from Miu Miu. It comes in a red color with pink collars, and described as having a slightly loose fit. It also has short sleeves so she can wear this even during the summer. Available on Net-a-Porter.
Joey Mead-King in Louis Vuitton
You’ll often see Joey supporting her wife Angie King at races, and even driving her beloved car. Because of this, we chose the Louis Vuitton Colorblock Fitted Sweater to give her that badass look. It has red stripes going down the long white sleeves and has the LV signature on the hip. This also matches her black car, so it’s a win-win combo. Available at Solaire Resort and Casino.
