Preen Gift Guide: Decor for Your Homebody Buddy

Having trouble with your gift list for the holidays? Our weekly gift guide series will help you figure out what you can get your loved ones this coming season. From food to fashion and beauty, we’ll be covering all possible areas to make sure you have the best options to choose from. We will be posting gift guides every week till Christmas comes around so keep checking back for more!

Still thinking of what to get your friend who just loves decorating? The one who, aside from all the usual stores you both love, you also have to drag away from home stores as they’re always bound to buy another mug or pillow or candle. If it looks like they’ve already got everything they need—whether it’s for their work desk, or for the latest rearrangement of their bedroom—here are some suggestions for items that will help them either live a little better, make their space even prettier, or both.

The downside to this list is that they might rather stay at home than join your nights out. I guess it’ll be more home-cooked meals and sleepovers from now on. A pretty good deal, if you ask me.

To set the mood: Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser

Maybe they’ve been wanting to get scented candles for a long time now, but just couldn’t decide on what to get. Get them a diffuser instead—this way, they can easily change up the scents to use depending on where they plan to put it. This diffuser also doubles as a lamp, perfect for adding a moodier ambiance to any room. (It’s got a sleek, minimalist design!) Available at Muji, Powerplant Mall.

To keep track of the time and their schedule: Industrial Wall Clock

We all have that one friend who has their days plotted down to the minute. Help them better manage their time (especially with the new year coming!) with a wall clock that also doubles as a magnetic chalkboard. They can post or write down important events or notes right beside the hour they need to do it, so they’re reminded whenever they check the time. Available at Pottery Barn, Estancia Mall.

To add some character to the table: Quirky Pots and Vases

Although most of the world may have shifted to full-on indoor gardening with house plants like monsteras, orchids, and others, cacti and succulents still remain popular choices for those who want low maintenance bits of greenery in their spaces. Maybe taking care of these little plants will become even more fun with quirky pots in the shape of faces and boobs from The Pot Dealer, or these upside-down heads from Guavasketches (total mood, by the way). Available online and via Instagram.

To make their morning coffee even better: Unique Mugs

Coffee is always the first agenda of the day, so make sure that this all-important drink doesn’t just go in some boring-ass cup. Check out Aphro, which carries a number of pieces by renowned potters like Mia Casal and Aleth Ocampo, or drop by Typo for mugs in fun shapes. You can also snoop around the crafting circle of Instagram and find gems like the colorfully glazed pieces by Iori Espiritu. Available at Typo Bonifacio High Street, Aphro Living, or online.

To help them stay organized: Lidded Baskets

For the friend who just can’t help but hoard their faves, a handy container would be the perfect gift. But don’t just settle for any ordinary box—keep it chic by getting them a lidded woven basket box. Not only is it functional (they can stack it up, too, to make more space!), it’ll also add a rustic touch to their space. Available at Crate and Barrel, SM Aura.
