Artistic Director for Menswear Kim Jones Will Exit Louis Vuitton

Men’s artistic director Kim Jones is set to exit Louis Vuitton after seven years. He will be showing his last collection in Paris today.

Because of Kim, the menswear division of Louis Vuitton had its own distinctive look (read: Streetwear!) that resonates best with what the market wants. He was also the brains behind Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with New York-based streetwear Supreme.

“It has been a huge privilege to work with Kim. His ability to set trends is impeccable and his talent and determination have ensured that Louis Vuitton is firmly placed as the leading brand in luxury menswear today. All of us who have been fortunate to work with Kim wish him continued success in his next venture,” said chairman and chief executive Michael Burke.

There are rumors that he will be moving to Burberry as its chief creative officer Christopher Bailey is also set to depart. Others say that he’s also talking to Versace. I guess we just have to wait and see where Kim Jones takes his talent next.
