Janella Salvador and Elmo Magalona is one duo that stays true to how down-to-earth and adorable they are on social media. At a Valentine’s Day event earlier today, they played with Cadbury’s interactive screen and goofed around a bit under the Love Arc installation. (Peep our Instagram Stories to see what we mean!) They also shared the story behind their terms of endearment “Kitty” and “Meow.”
“I call her ‘Kitty’ because she looks like a cat, and she loves cats,” said Elmo. Janella added, “Since he thinks I’m a cat, I made up the nickname ‘Elmeow.'”
Like many love teams here, they’re also busy with their respective projects and endorsements. Right now, they’re promoting their newest film My Fairy Tail Love Story, where Janella plays a mermaid and Elmo as her leading man.
The movie is technically Janella and Elmo’s first feature film as a love team. Although they’ve worked together on TV, music, and other films over the past two years, Janella admits that there were still awkward moments while shooting My Fairy Tail Love Story.
“Janella would say na she would feel awkward I have to take off my top [for a scene,]” Elmo tells us, noting that the film has a lot of underwater shots.
Janella adds, “Sobrang [I wasn’t] looking! But I got comfortable eventually.” We feel ya, girl.
But how has their relationship on set changed after becoming a reel-to-real couple? Janella says that it’s gotten a lot easier now compared to their first project. “We’re a lot more comfortable with each other since we’ve gone through so much together,” she says. “We’ve learned a lot about each other also, and it’s easier to work with someone who you have a deep connection with already.”
Meanwhile, Elmo thinks that being able to gauge each other’s mood is also an advantage for any love team. “Because whenever they’re down, you know already. Whenever they’re happy, you can share their happiness.”
Sigh, young love. Witnessing their carefree dynamic firsthand was quite refreshing, and we’re sure fans will be seeing more of it once they watch My Fairy Tail Love Story. Or, you know, just by looking at Janella and Elmo’s many cute photos on their Instagram feeds.
