We all have different goals in life, and they can be as simple as leveling up our highlighter game. In case you didn’t know yet, our team loves this makeup product, and we can’t pass up the opportunity to make our cheekbones—even collarbones—pop if needed.
Luckily for us, there are several tips from the beauty world to make it possible. You’ll only need a few products and tricks to pull them off. Now, off we glow!
Cream highlighter base
We spoke before about layering powder and cream highlighter. With the right combo, you can achieve two times the glow that you want. You can start off with Benfit’s Watt’s Up! Cream Highlighter which has a champagne shade that complements any skin tone. Available at SM Megamall.
Coconut oil continues to be an all-around product
Beauty guru Huda Kattan shared that she sets her highlighter with coconut oil. For extra glow, she adds more on top. It’s best to use any solidified coconut oil so you can easily dab it on your cheekbone.
Another beauty oil you can use
Instagram girl Arielle Stenner posted that her secret to having an intense glow is actually Bio-Oil. As I explained in our Preen Picks skincare edition, this product is normally used to diminish the appearance of scars and dark spots. According to Allure, Bio-Oil helps powder highlighter sweep on smoother on the skin, giving you a mirror-like finish. Available at Mercury Drug.
Spritzing with setting spray
When you watch makeup tutorials, a common trick that vloggers do for highlighter is that they wet their brush with setting spray. What they do is they apply one layer, spray the brush, then put more on their cheekbones. For this, you can use the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ setting spray. Available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
Ditch the fan brush and use a beauty sponge
This tool isn’t just for blending out your foundation and concealer. It can also be used to apply your powder highlighter. Jaclyn Hill does this trick with a damp BeautyBlender and just gently dabs it on the cheekbone. This makes the product more pigmented and goes on smooth on the skin.
